About Us

Nash Interactive, Inc. was founded seventeen years ago as a partnership, and became a privately-held corporation in 1997. With offices located in metropolitan Washington, D.C., we currently serve clients worldwide. Aside from the programming, design, and quality assurance skills you would expect in an award-winning Internet company, our team includes experts in strategic planning, fundraising, marketing, media relations, and political advocacy.

We have worked in federal agencies, managed major corporate contracts, headed a national non-profit organization, staffed political campaigns, and taught at major universities. Our off-line experiences inform the online solutions we custom create for you.

Our principals, Emilienne Ireland and Phil Tajitsu Nash, wrote "Winning Campaigns Online," widely considered the leading book on online advocacy. Aside from their work for Nash Interactive, they write frequently for trade and mainstream periodicals, and have conducted online advocacy workshops in Europe, Canada, and throughout the United States.

Emi has over seventeen years of experience as an information systems analyst, project manager, trainer, teacher, and Internet technology specialist.

She has written extensively about online advocacy issues, and served clients in the U.S. and abroad as a strategist, communications specialist, and fundraiser. A founding member of Nash Interactive, she has created and implemented quality control and usability protocols for government, corporate, advocacy, and non-profit Web sites. She has taught in the Graduate School of Political Management at George Washington University, and regularly gives speeches on the latest trends in internet advocacy. She is familiar with all phases of production, including graphic design, information flow, code and script testing, focus group testing, editing, and QA testing, and has received many awards for her work.

Emi graduated magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Columbia University, and holds an M.A. in Anthropology from Yale University, with a concentration in Legal and Political Anthropology.

Phil Tajitsu Nash, Esq
CEO and General Counsel

Phil co-founded Nash Interactive after nearly two decades as a lawyer, educator, non-profit executive, and website developer. He also is experienced in professional fundraising and business development, and has first-hand knowledge of all major branches of mass media.

Phil has worked as a newspaper editor and magazine journalist, and currently writes "Washington Journal," a weekly political commentary column for Asian Week. He has provided commentary to BBC World News radio and other news outlets, and served as host of a nationally-broadcast weekly public radio program on the U.S. Supreme Court. He also is a certified television producer.

Before he co-founded Nash Interactive, Phil practiced law in New York and New Jersey, taught law at Georgetown University Law Center, and served as Executive Director of a national not-for-profit legal services foundation. On behalf of the Japanese American redress movement, he testified before Congress, and served as a strategist, lobbyist, and litigator.

An honors graduate of New York University, Phil holds a J.D. from Rutgers Law School and is currently admitted to the bar in New York and New Jersey.
