Close the gun show loophole

With rights come responsibilities

Americans for Gun Safety is a non-partisan, not-for-profit, advocacy organization that supports the rights of individuals who own firearms for sport, protection, and collection.

We also believe that with rights come responsibilities. We seek stronger new gun laws and tougher enforcement of current laws. Our goal is to help keep guns out of the hands of criminals and kids, and to promote responsible gun ownership.

AGS is now leading a bipartisan national campaign asking the U.S. Congress and President Bush to pass a national law to require background checks at gun shows.

This law, similar to laws passed overwhelmingly by voters in Colorado and Oregon last November, would close the loophole that every year allows thousands of criminals to buy guns at gun shows from unlicensed sellers without any kind of background check.
