This election is a turning point in our country's history. We are facing record budget deficits, an uncertain economy and changes in our Colorado and national leadership.

I believe that public service should be about uniting the country, not dividing it. Over the last several years, we have witnessed an unprecedented division in our country. Politically, we talk about "blue" states and "red" states, but we don't often hear about what we have in common: fostering an environment for healthy, happy families or creating opportunities for everyone to have a shot at success. As your Congressman, I will represent both rural and urban and do what's right for the 4th Congressional District, not pursuing a single-issue agenda. I invite you to compare my positions with those of my opponent.

For those of you who do not know me, my great-grandparents settled in this district in the early 1900s. I grew up in this district, raising my family in this district, and working in this district. I had the privilege of serving as your State Senator for two terms and, served as President of the Colorado State Senate for two years.

While serving you in the State Senate, I worked across party lines to achieve substantial breakthroughs on transportation, education, and tax relief. During the course of my career in public service, these successes led to formal endorsements by most of our local newspapers and dozens of our local organizations. read full statement

 The Colorado Research Triangle Park
Stan's Colorado Research Triangle Park Initiative

As the Fourth District's Member of Congress, Stan will work with his colleagues in Congress, his former colleagues in the Colorado State Legislature, Fourth District leaders, and members of the Colorado business and education communities to create the Colorado Research Triangle Park — an area roughly defined as Boulder/Longmont to Fort Collins to Greeley and back. This initiative will take advantage of the Fourth District's existing resources, its highly educated but underemployed workforce, and its existing infrastructure to promote what we do well: bio-science and high tech research and development. This is an initiative that will spur investment and attract jobs for years to come. The average yearly salary for jobs in the bioscience or biotechnology sector is $63,000.   read more
